The YAEL foundation is dedicated to promoting medical research, education and practice. Our particular focus is on autoimmune and inflammatory liver diseases (i.e. autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), and primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)). We have been providing grants and prices for research projects and organized seminars for patient information. Our main ongoing activity is to support the ‘YAEL Clinic for Autoimmune Liver Diseases’ as part of the ‘Martin Zeitz Centre for Rare Diseases’ located at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf, providing passionate and dedicated patient care and a clinical research infrastructure for autoimmune liver diseases. The YAEL foundation is a non-profit organization acknowledged by the State of Hamburg.

10th physician-patient seminar on autoimmune liver diseases

The upcoming physician-patient seminar on autoimmune liver diseases will be hosted at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf, N55, Ian Karan lecture hall, on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

GASL-Award of the YAEL foundation 2024

The YAEL Prize 2024 has been awarded to Natascha Röhlen, MD, PhD. With the prize the German Association for the Study of the Liver (GASL) honours her publication in the Journal of Hepatology “Treatment of HCC with claudin-1-specific antibodies suppresses carcinogenic signaling and reprograms the tumor microenvironment”.
